The Business School's one-year, three-semester Ontario College Graduate Certificate Program will equip you for a fulfilling career in project management. Applicants who have previously completed post-secondary education in any area and seek to improve their employability by working for a globally recognized project management certification are encouraged to apply. For seasoned project managers looking to add a new level of leadership to their job, it is also perfect.
The program's courses adhere to the PMBOK® Guide: A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge. The program curriculum includes classes in organizational leadership, communication skills, job readiness, and business foundations, all of which will help you make better use of this book. The course material covers cutting-edge industry case studies and practical application of modern tools like Microsoft Project. You will be equipped by the curriculum to initiate, plan, execute, monitor, control, and close projects as well as to choose and justify them. You will get the knowledge and skills necessary to create thorough project management plans that can direct project teams through different project lifecycles (predictive, agile, and hybrid). Additionally, you will learn how to lead various project teams and use the subject-specific expertise from your prior learning and experiences.
You will work in small teams in a capstone course (experiential learning opportunity) and interact with regional organizations on various projects while being supervised by instructors throughout the second semester. If you are a qualified applicant, you will take part in a full-time, 14-week placement with a participating company in the third semester. This will provide you the chance to gain important project management experience. The experience can subsequently be applied toward the work requirements for the CAPM® and PMP® credentials.
