This Masters-level coursework provides a route into the field of dietetics by integrating theoretical and practical elements from the fields of clinical dietetics, food service, community and public health, and research.
Students receive instruction on how to comprehend and apply nutrition science, evaluate nutritional needs, conduct research, and offer dietary guidance for both general health and more specific needs, such as increased performance and medical disorders.
Graduates can join the Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) Program and become full members of Dietitians Australia (DA). The government and many private health insurers in Australia only recognize the APD as a valid credential.
Students have a choice between the Bachelor of Health Science (Nutrition Bioscience Major) and the Bachelor of Science (Exercise and Sports Science) with a suggested set of electives, both of which provide a pathway to the Master of Nutrition and Dietetics. Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA) allows graduates of the Bachelor of Science (Exercise and Sports Science) to register, giving them the potential for dual certification (ESSA and APD).
