Formerly known as Holmes College of Management or Holmes College, Holmes Institute was founded in Australia in 1963. The course structure comprises of 18 core subjects: 6 electives, 4 core business subjects, and 14 core professional subjects in the domains of computer systems and ICT. Offering four core subjects at the introductory level exposes students to the fundamentals of both business- and information-related subjects and offers a flexible path should they decide to change their major after finishing these four core subjects. The three capstone subjects are taken in the last year, while the core IS subjects offer the fundamental core units related to IS.
They are regarded as strategic in nature and offer a synthesis of information previously covered in other units, merging technology, people, and management challenges. Over the course of a 12-week teaching semester (36 contact hours), each subject receives three hours of contact time every week. In a semester, a typical full-time load consists of four topics.
