The Ontario College Graduate Certificate in Computer Software & Database Development gives students the chance to learn about the most recent advances in software development. For those who qualify, this demanding two-year curriculum ends with a work term. There are three stages in software development: database, business logic, and user interface. Full Stack Software Developers have knowledge in both front-end and back-end web development, including the creation of user interfaces (UI) for browsers and mobile devices as well as business logic-containing software that accesses databases. For the most part, full stack developers are familiar with the display, business logic, and data layers of software development.
To create user interfaces, front-end languages and technologies are used, such as HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery, Bootstrap, React, and others. The database layer and business logic layers are both a part of back-end development. Server-side programming languages and frameworks like Java, C#.NET, Python, Node.js, and others are used for the business logic. The database layer includes DBMSs like Oracle, DB2, MySQL, and MongoDB as well as SQL and NoSQL DBMSs. To build and distribute high quality software quickly, DevOps tools like Git, GItHub, Integrated Development Environments (IDEs), and Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines are crucial.
By creating solutions to three-tier (client, server, and database) challenges from the real world, students demonstrate their knowledge and skills.
