Located in the seaside city of Wollongong, New South Wales, some 80 kilometers south of Sydney, lies the public research institution known as the institution of Wollongong (abbreviated as UOW). In 2023, the institution had over 33,000 students enrolled (including over 12,300 foreign students), over 176,000 alumni, over 2,400 staff members, including 16 Distinguished professors, and over 2,400 students enrolled.

 

The University of Wollongong has grown into a multi-campus organization on both a national and international scale. The main campus of the university, located in Wollongong, covers an area of 82.4 hectares and has 94 permanent buildings. It is located on the original location, five kilometers north-west of the city center. As well as three Sydney campuses, including the UOW Sydney Business School, UOW Liverpool, and UOW Sutherland, there are regional university campuses in Bega, Batemans Bay, Moss Vale, and Shoalhaven. UOW has campuses outside of Australia in Dubai, Hong Kong, and places in Malaysia. Additionally, UOW has forged alliances with other institutions of higher learning abroad in China and Singapore.

 

Nine campuses make up the University of Wollongong in Australia.The university's main site, the Wollongong campus, is situated on the coast of New South Wales, 3 km from downtown Wollongong and 80 km from Sydney. The North Wollongong railway station, which opened in 1915 on the South Coast railway line, serves the area.The Faculty of the Arts, Social Sciences & Humanities, the Faculty of Business and Law, the Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences, and the Faculty of Science, Medicine and Health are the four faculties that offer courses. On the Wollongong campus, there are over 2,400 staff members and close to 33,000 total students that attend classes. The campus also has student housing, conference facilities, food halls, supermarkets, cafés, restaurants, a bar, indoor sports facilities, a gymnasium, a swimming pool, and sports grounds in addition to the teaching and research buildings. UOW College is located on the Wollongong campus.

You choose majors and minors to build your Bachelor of Arts degree. There are several common majors and minors (like English, History, and Politics) as well as some lesser-known ones (like International Relations, Sociology, and Environmental Humanities) that reflect the range of academic specializations. In addition to developing competence in the field you are studying (for example, history), completing a major (or two) as part of your Bachelor of Arts degree will provide you a variety of transferable abilities in critical thinking, analysis, cultural intelligence, and conceptual frameworks. Since you have the option of choosing more than one major, it is advisable to make a variety of choices in your first year before deciding on a major or majors in your second year.
 

From the options available for the Bachelor of Arts, students must choose one major and either a minor or a second major.

You may choose a major and/or minor from a field other than arts, as long as you finish at least one major and one minor from the bachelor's in arts program. Criminology, Digital and Social Media, Economics, Global Screen Media, Global Sustainable Development, Human Geography, Journalism, Marketing, Communication and Advertising, Visual Communication Design, Global Sustainable Development, International Business, Economics, Human Resource Management, Management, and Public Relations are some of the more popular majors outside of the Bachelor of Arts.

 

Available at the campuses in Southern Highlands, Shoalhaven, Bega, and Batemans Bay. Full major completion is dependent on availability at the time of enrollment for regional campuses.
